About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced and credible Senior Electrical Consultant to join our growing Asset Management capability. This role is ideal for an individual who combines deep technical expertise with strong consultancy judgment and is motivated by the opportunity to shape client outcomes, influence industry practice, and develop a growing capability.

As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with clients to identify, assess, and mitigate complex machinery and functional safety risks, often operating at a senior level. Beyond delivery, you will play a central role in developing services, growing client relationships, and expanding our presence in high-risk sectors including Energy, Food & Drink, Mining, and Waste & Recycling.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Act as a recognised authority delivering complex consultancy, including machinery safety and risk assessments (ISO 12100, PUWER), UKCA/CE marking, and Technical File development.
\n
• Functional Safety: Lead functional safety lifecycle activities, including Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), verification via SISTEMA, and validation.
\n
• Client Advisory: Provide clear, pragmatic, and defensible advice to senior stakeholders, supporting risk-informed investment decisions. You will also deliver expert opinion and support Expert Witness activities.
\n
• Capability & Growth: Lead the development of service offerings in machinery/functional safety and drive business growth by identifying new consultancy opportunities and leading proposals.
\n
• Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior consultants, strengthening our internal technical capability and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
\n
• Project Management: Manage complex projects from scope definition through to delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs and client satisfaction.

About You

We are looking for a blend of technical depth, consultancy credibility, and commercial awareness:

• Experience: Significant experience in electrical engineering or machinery safety. Strong expertise in PUWER, ISO 12100, and functional safety (SRS, SISTEMA, validation).
\n
• Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (or demonstrable progress towards it) is essential. Training in BS7671 (18th Edition) or equivalent (e.g., IEC 60204) is required.
\n
• Attributes: You must be credible and authoritative, with the confidence to advise at senior levels. You are commercially astute, a pragmatic problem solver, and a collaborator who is passionate about developing others.
